Thanks to Bryant at San Diego Gear and Axle. As some of you guys know he installed my 8" 5-lug with Auburn posi and 3.25 gears. I don't know what I had before in the old 8" but yesterday and today is the first time I've been able to floor it (there was a break-in period) and the car is sick! Feels like I'm driving someone else's car. Off the line I can't tell too much of a difference but that's cause I haven't really floored it off the line yet . . . but on the road when I floor it the car takes off like it's in first gear, it's amazing. I love this thing. I'm cruising at 75mph with 3050rpm and it's very quiet and very smooth.

That's what I was going to say. For what I've driven my car on the highway, 1900 rpm @ 70 MPH is sweet!!

C'mon guys. Don't blow his good mood by telling him that he needs another thousand bucks worth of parts to "really" enjoy his car.

Mashori, I remember the first time I drove my car with new gears and posi. And saying that "it feels like a whole other car" is dead nuts ON!!!

Glad you are enjoying your new-found power :thumbs2:

thanks guys! I can only imagine how sweet 4.11's must be. So the AOD is in my distant future but not yet. Next on the list is to get a better C4. Bryant actually has a pretty nice C4 in his so I might buy that off him. Trying to strengthen everything up before I put a 331 one in.

    but man that 3.25 . . . wow!

Glad to hear you are loving it. You would of had 2.79 before in the old 8". Real freeway flyer gears. I think that you will really like the posi though. Especially when you can hammer it off the line. Doing BIG burnouts and swingin her out sideways around the corners! FUN!! Enjoy!

I run my 4:11's on the highway for about a 25 minute run to work and the car really likes it around 3200. Very respectable on fuel. Not much worse than my 4.0 Jeep. I thought it would be a slob but it likes it. The carb rebuild and tuning was a huge help.
In a perfect world I would like 3.55's but I may just keep the 4:11's and think about an AOD. Got a few tranny shops that owe me a few favors.(y)

The 4:11's are a blast around town. A bit to hang on to though. She blows the tires loose in second gear at city speeds. Sticky's next year.:):):):):):)
