Mike, These pictures were taken a day or two before I headed back to Malaysia. Best of luck to you on getting it to the track. I'll be keeping in touch to see how you're proceeding.
Thanks Rick, car is supposed to be getting put on carrier and headed this way today, I guess we will just wait and see if it made it on with all the exhaust and under carriage parts. Sounds pretty goods for a stock 302 cant wait to hear it rumble with the 347
I wasn't sure if you could see/hear the video. I've linked to again below. Pls let me know how the load-up goes when you get a chance. [ame=http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v331/funkyjunky/1970%20Maverick%20For%20Sale/?action=view¤t=20102009040.flv][/ame]
If you click on the top picture it works, bottom pic doesnt work though. It doesnt lock up my computer now though
Update, car is on trailer and headed west, thanks to Scooper :Handshake and his ability to talk truck driver into putting it on the trailer and having to shuffle cars to do it, amongst other problems. You Texans rule
Just got home. Long drive and stopped for dinner on the way back. There were lots of issues with getting it on the trailer. The biggest prob apparently was the broker failing to tell the driver that the car was low. But we fixed that and got it on there. Mike sent me some cool doohickies that slip in between the front springs, and twist in with a socket, and BOOM! and extra 2 inches clearance. I hope rick doesn't get an upset stomach when he sees the second picture and how high that thing is riding. More problems with trying to load it at night. I had my truck's headlights pointed at the back quarter of the truck, the driver's wife with a flashlight, and it still took several attempts to get it on straight. But we made it! Enjoy!!!
About the cool doohickies that slip or kind of twist between the front springs, and twist in with a socket wrench extra 2 inches clearance. I have been told they will put cracks in your shock towers if you leave them in too long.
These are just for loading and unloading of the car. Not for permanent use. Just to clear the trailer. i seriously doubt Mike will want to drive with them in. They really throw the allignment off, it looks like.
Yeah those twist in doohickies also come out very easy when you dont really want them too, I would never advice anyone to use them but in this case they did the trick. The only reason I would want to raise the front end of car anyways would be for a little clearance for the 8 quart oilpan, so I will probaly put some different springs upfront to give me at least another inch of clearance, I figure I will have to do some front alignment fixing from previous posts about the car, but hey when its on the track the front end isnt going to touch the track much
Glad you gotter done, Scott. Yes, the alignment is setup for track-only (negative camber). A bit too much in hindsight. The camber could be adjusted a couple of degrees. I tried to adjust it, but with the limited number of tools I had at the time, it just didn't work out. Bottom line - it's headed to its new home now!
I have seen something in posts about that but havent heard the story yet, maybe someday someone will enlighten me
