Why does the fender line look like it's not flat? Looks like some stressing going on. I would look into getting another set of shocks and check the bump stops.

The lack of shock tower braces may have played a part as well.

good luck and let us know if you dont find one because there are guys on here that will sell you one. looking at the closeup though i would suggest getting ready to bite the bullet and weld in a new tower and make sure the frame and suspension is all straight because you may need to save up and fix all that as well.... :(

I was just thinking about it today...those look like the same standard shocks I have on mine, if you have smaller tires more then likely youve lowered it too...if you lowered it too much and hit a pothole you might have maxed out the absorption of the shocks...in that case the extra pressure has no where to go except the weakest spot...which happened to be your shock towers. (I may be wrong in this way of thinking)

My suggestion? If you did lower your car you might want to look into getting shorter shocks if you havent yet.

i think it was just weak, another thing we've been wondering is if the othe bolt was stripped out before i hadn't opened the hood since monday,my dad was wondering if the first bolt got vib'd loose or something and that why the other one took all the force, either way its fixed now my brother welded it up for me and welded on grade 8 nuts to the bottom of the mount.

My dad made spacers for his shocks when he lowered his '71 Comet to keep that from happening. They were made out of an old fluted aluminum bicycle seat post like this.
