I just got a weiand stealth intake and want to protect it from starting to look dirty. Should I have it powder coated? I've heard spraying it with clear coat will make it turn yellow. Just dont want it to end up looking dingy. Let me know what you guys have done. Thank...
ive never found any way that is efforless to maintain. the two ways that ive see taht are some what easy to clean is to have the intake polished or powdercoated. both ways gives it a smooth finish that is easy to wipe clean.
I leave mine as is. Clean up is simple using spray carb cleaner, followed by the water hose. I do em about every two months when I think about it.
I do basically the same thing. Glass bead the intake if it is nasty looking. I use a spray solvent from my body shop called Acrysol. Just hit any dirty or oily spots. It washes it right off. Wipe it dry and it looks like new again.
Thanks! I need to try this. I cleared mine a long time ago and, yes, it turned yellow. So, the next time I had it off I stripped off the clear. It looks much better now - but still dingy.
Depends on the clear you use. I have used dupont on engine parts in the past and never had it yellow.
I think I want it powdered cause I would like it to be black. I am just concerned about the durability.
