"Our office is in the process of determining the value for assessment purposes on antique/classic vehicles registered in Moore County. In order to establish value correctly, we are asking that you complete the information requested below on the following vehicle:
    1973 MERC"

They ask the model, body style, condition, purchase price if bought within the last two years and condition. Then my home phone number.

According to the descriptions on the back my car is POOR condition:

"Essentially complete and functional. Missing no major parts. Suitable for restoration. Paint, chrome and bodywork showing age. Minor body or chassis rust. Drives, but engine, brakes, transmission not perfect."

I was told last year I would NEVER have to pay taxes on this car again. I was informed it was too old for such nonsense.

I changed it to LOW condition to avoid sending them a picture of my hot girlfriend. It's not a parts car by any means and it is a daily driver(most days) and it might even qualify as GOOD condition.
LittleT saw it in person, it's really not that bad. Looks like a 36 year old driver.

I feel a tax bill coming.

The church was wanting cookies and other goodies to give to the local law enforcement and the mayor. Told the preacher that between my taxes and various traffic fines I thought Id done my share this year:huh:

Back on topic, it was only a matter of time before some number cruncher realized that something wasn't being taxed. We can't have that can we? :naughty:

Oh well - How much could it be? Surely they realize it's only a Comet? :hmmm:

Tell them it's a Comet not a Maverick and they might give you a refund. :yahoo:

Sorry, I had to do it.

I lived in South Carolina for a short time ... could not believe the annual taxes on vehicles.

How many states do that?.... no vehicle taxes in Florida....no state income tax.... 7 percent sales taxes is all.

It helps pay the $3000/year homeowner insurance bill ... that was $800/year before the big spat of hurricanes 5 years ago. :(

Dont feel bad Paint, down here in Onslow Co. They are going to start taxing us by how much they think we will use the roads. They are calling it a Road tax to be used to fix the poor roads around here.

Wisconsin, we pay 5.5% sales tax at purchase, an annual registration of about $75 (more for vanity plates), and have one of the highest gasoline taxes at 51.3 cents per gallon.

I guess the 27% we pay here in NC is not enough :bs:. But that is just my 2 cents.
