Curious to know if it's harder or easier to swap the later Mavericks/Comets to 73 model bumpers. And speaking of 73 bumpers, I never took notice but are the rear bumpers bigger or the same size from the 71 and 72 models?
the 73s had the same rear bumpers as early mavs. They are extended out a few more inches due to the bumper act ..
The front is simple, the rear would be just like the earlier bumpers only the brackets push them away from the body a little farther than the early ones.
on my 73 i thought the rear were the same too, except for the mounts i have a 70 parts car so i jacked the bumper mounts and went ahead and snatched the bumper as well......side by side...way differnet. the 73 version was much more round mine is a 4 door so that may be wy
i read this as, he wants to swap to a '73 front bumper... rear '73 bumpers are the same...outside mounting brackets are different...and you will need the trunk mounting bracket. i did the '73 to early front bumper swap but don't remember what the '73 front bumper mounts looked like... ......
The 73 front bumper mounts, look like the 74 & up, only slightly smaller. Aslo the rear bumpers on 73's have the rubber filler piece that mounts below the quarter extension, which is a 73 part only.
