Your dead on. The scoop stiffened the hood up in the middle. Wasnt too bad without it. I was able to do the block sanding on the hood no problem. I'm sure it would flex at speed though without the scoop attached.

I would never have done that to a steel Grabber hood....fiberglass would have been a better choice. I just hope you have a nice steel Grabber hood in case you ever want to go back. Don't take this the wrong way....not trying to be negative...but a car as nice as yours? Cutting up the hood? I read your sig and that got me thinking...didn't want to say anything at first but I'm just giving my opinion. Didn't want to come off as a slam.

As long as you are happy that's all that matters. Great car either way. (y)

predfan2001,i have 2 original v8 grabbers and i built my girlfriend Bev (Grabbergirl719) her 69.5 Grabber clone (71 grabber hood and rear spoiler),im also building another grabber orange with black interior 69.5 grabber clone (71 grabber hood and rear spoiler) .My race car Blue Thunder has a absolute mint Grabber hood and now this Grabber hood that i cowled as it was the roughtest one i own so it was a good candidate for a mod Job .When you have so many of these original hoods sooner or latter you have to cut one up to serve your purpose for racing. With my NOS system having two 1/2 inch spacers and a 3 inch high air cleaner my original Grabber hood wouldnt close. So you cut up the worst Grabber hood you got and make a cowl and now it will close . cheers Jimmy ,P.S keep watching my threads and you will see a couple more project i have on the go like my 69.5 Grabber clone and possible a 71 comet GT.Jimmy

Whew! I'm glad to know you didn't cut up your hood. Now it makes sense!
