I was wondering how popular I would be if I'd swap in comet tail lights on my maverick?

Has anyone have pics of doing this?

I'm kind of thinking its a little taboo for some reason and maybe that is more reason to do it.

Whatever floats your boat. Personally, I like the Maverick lights better. If you like it go for it.:)

You would have to change the whole tail light panel to make it work. I personally like the Comet tail lights, but I will ditch the backup light and make it a working tail light on mine.

I would also like to make those working tail lights.

I see now that the comet lights don't fit into the profile of the maverick back panel.
I'm not into changing out the back panel.
Maybe its possible to reshape the comet lights to fit. I will have to take a look.

The Comet tail light housings are pot metal. Hard stuff to do any mods to, other than cutting material off.

I changed out the hood on my first Comet as I like the Mav front (but Comet rear) more too. Will probably end up doing the same with this next one too unless I for some reason fall in love with the huge nose (I don't see it but stranger things have happened!). Hardest part is finding a hood that doesn't have lip rust (unless you go aftermarket; wonder if Mavman's carbon fiber hoods are still around).

Nice pic. My concern is the top and bottom of the lights. that they have a gap. I was thinking about cutting a bit off the sides to fit snug.
I am also concerned about the end curve on the panel. It just doesn't match up with the aggressive curve of the comet light.

I guess that is one way to go.
When you changed out the hood, Did you also change the grill, bumper and valence? or did it work with just the hood?
I like to mod my maverick with the best of both worlds. It is hard sometimes to break away from the stock look.

The tail lights on the car in the pic are upside down and swapped side for side.

They fit the curve of the tail light panel better when installed in the right orientation.

    Hope this helps,

yea they are upside down I think they would look better the right way, and probably fit better, it wasnt my ideal to go upside down it was already like that, but I think the comet lights the right way would look good.

I think they look good on the back of these cars myself. When I first bought the Green GT I was toying with the idea of changing them to something else since I have to replace the tail panel anyway, but the more I look at them the more I like them. :thumbs2:

Please don't think I was putting your car down, I was only trying to address Thomas' concerns over the curvature and fitment of the tail light buckets. :Handshake
