On the 69.5 I own I just realized I do not have a front sway bar. Were these installed on the early Mavericks or was mine left off when the other owner replaced the front end with V-8 parts and didn't reinstall it? Also what cars can I get one from, I heard there are 2 sizes.
If the car was used to drag race at one time, the previous owner might have taken it off to save weight - not uncommon (but dangerous) .
If I were you, I'd get one from a junkyard Maverick. Although the optional 7/8" bar is more preferable, the standard 3/4" is better than nothing, easy to find, and dirt cheap. That with some new bushings would make the car handle a little better...
Thanks all, found one today at the local yard, come to find out they have 34 Mavericks there, a couple Sprints and one Stallion, but they are HARD to get to trees growing up through them. I also picked up some V-8 mounts and tranny cross member. Going back tomorrow to search for some 351 heads.
Where do you find new bushings for the sway bar? I've got my engine out at the moment and want to fix as much as I can with it out of the way, including replacing any old rubber or worn bits.
I got mine at Auto Zone. Just make sure you know what the diameter of the bar is, and they have the bushing kits for them.
where is that salvage yard. I'm here in NW Arkansas. That sounds like a road trip to me. How about the Tulsa contingent. Any interest?
