Tall shackles cause excessive roll on turns and make the springs sag more quickly in the future. New springs will make it ride better and be a lot safer if you occasionally take turns a bit ....fast?
Building a set of springs with parts from a wrecking yard is also a good idea - it just depends on how much you want to do yourself. Any kind of spacer will increase the load on the springs when turning and make the car more unstable than it is in stock form. Springs are relatively cheap - new or used - so it doesn't make sense to use anything to "make up" for worn springs.

That makes the $40 wrecking yard price and the extra work almost worth it, doesn't it.

LOL, instead of raising the rear, lower the front ;-)
Cut front springs, or go find some 6 cyl front springs. But I'm with the rest of guys on this one, replace the rear springs there old and weak.

If you use only the bottom or shortest hole, you should be ok with the shackels, but don't expect a lot of lift. The ones on my car were in the top or longest section hole. When I took them loose, the springs snapped back to their normal arch. Using the bottom hole, the spring still has an arch, and the distance between the hanger and spring on the shackle is probably only about 1" different than a stock shackle. I lowered the front by cutting off 1 coil on a stock 250 6 cyl spring, your results may vary.

    Maybe this pics will help

They were on the car when I bought it. As you can see in the pics, I have two holes below the lowest setting. They are of no use and will cause problems if used! I am going to trim mine just below the springs so nothing will be hanging down, just haven't got around to it.
