 Well it looks like it going to be totaled. It's a sad day. I had it a week and it was mint. I guess the grabber gods wanted this one back.

    Agnusbull,

I understand why the insurance company would total it, but that car is very fixable. Can you buy it back from them? If so you could do it and have some one do the body work on it. That is unless you bent or twisted the uni body/frame but it does not look like it got hit hard enough or direct enough to bend or twist it.
If it is truly for sale for a buck I will take it!! Let me know.
Sorry about your luck with it and I hope you are OK. I know your pride took a lick on that.

Sorry about your car. I would try and buy it back from the insurance company. Just ask them to keep the salvage as part of the settlement.

The price was just to get it posted, appreciate the humor though. The car is still drivable. The reason their totaling it out, is because the cost to repair it is 80% of a value they gave it. Not sure what that value is yet. Still waiting to get it finalized. It is a numbers matching car. The motor and tranny were rebuilt about 5000 miles ago and the body had 70,000 miles on it. It had been painted 5 years ago, but the final sanding prior to paint wasn't done properly so you can see sand marks through the paint. The only filler I found was over the rear tire wells (outer lips). The rest of the car was spotless.

Was all of this damage done by that hit and run driver? I thought only the passenger side had the damage. Did they ever find that guy?

Wow sorry about that. But as others have said it is repairable. In the settlement ask to keep the car and don't let them tag the car as salvage.

Is the frame still true? If so, Ask them how much they will give you without totaling the car to keep the title clean. I have had some luck with this route - not always though.

May help you decide which way to go.

Believe it or not, 9 day later, on the way to the body shop, a girl ran a stop sign and did a job on the drivers side.

I'm doing all I can to keep them from totaling it. Trust me I'm not a happy camper right now.

The frame is fine, it's just cosmetic damage.
