so i finally got the lower control arm bolt off of my maverick it took a sawzall with bad batteries and a mini hack saw, but its off. so when i started installing all the new suspension parts i noticed that my UCA doesnt slide right into the holes and is slightly tilted forward. Im not sure what to do. its obvious that someone "worked" on that side of the car before theyre horrible welders but it doesnt seem like they even got everything lined up right either. if i need to take it apart and fix it ill shave the shock towers at the same time i have a buddy that i trust to weld. he used to work for Miller (not lite) im adding a picture since taking it ive clean up that area and painted over it. you can even see it titled on the old control arm in this pic.
I got rid of my shock towers a while ago, so I have nothing to refer to right now. Is this the driver side I'm looking at or the passenger side?
That is the passenger side, isn't it? It is supposed to have some tilt to it. Take a look at this old picture of a drivers side (see the fuel line?) - you can see a tilt here too.
That is why I asked about what side, in the photo, that I was looking at. Both top A-frames should tilt slightly to the rear of the car. It is your anti-dive designed into the car by Ford. Here it's a little more pronounced on the driver side of my MII suspension.
ok im guessing my eyes are just a little off. this side (passenger) is just a bit more pronounced than the drivers side. the idiot that did that is the same one that used a torch to cut access holes to the zerk. then replaced them with angled ones. my new one are angled. im thinking of cutting em out with a hole saw and putting a grommet in em. just to give it a better finish.
Use a tape measure from some point under the hood and measure from either the uca holes or studs {if the uca is still bolted in on one side} to some random point equally on both sides and see if they're the same
