So do I. I especially like the rear tail lights better and I have no issues with the more pointed front end. I was lucky enough to find one it real gud shape. The guy I bought it from had two cars for sale at the car corral - a Mav. and Comet. Cud have bought either one. Both in gud shape. I just like the Comet better.

Demographics were different. Mercury was after a different market and Ford was the volume seller. First Comets were Falcon based (1960-65) and were to be an EDSEL. Then Fairlaine (67-69), None in 1970, the 1971-1977 based on the Maverick.

    Still looking
I have one of each, Both 72 and Both Grabber Blue and I love the looks and style of them both, but I have to say if you put them nose to tail the Comet is just a better looking car.

Fords have always been more popular than their Mercury counterparts except for maybe 2 exceptions- the '49 Merc is at least as popular as the '49 Ford, and the '65 Comet is MUCH more popular (and attractive) than the '65 Fairlane.

Personally I don't see much difference aside for the pointed hood and the -sorry- ugly tail lights. By the numbers if comets are more uncommon why aren't they more valuable or are they?:hmmm:

Personally to me a standard maverick is worth the same as a standard comet. In 25 years from now when all our cars become even more rare, I think the Comet GT's are going to hold their value the best as they only made around 12,000 a year for a few years.

They made a lot more Grabbers, and to this day Grabbers are way easier to find then a real Comet GT.

And because comets came long before mavericks they probably will have more hype. Oh well, I still like mavs a lot more.;)

AND... There's still the SHELBY MAVERICK which of course would be more valuable than any comet gt or grabber LOL
