ill be doing this next after the cowls welded back up. i dont plan on torching the coil :D
is the coil held by anything or will it come right out once compressed?

Don't use air shocks on your Maverick/Comet - They will tear the top support out.
The process of changing shocks is to un bolt the top, then the bottom. Install the new ones by connecting them at the bottom first then the top.

The Shop Manual says to disconnect the bottom first and connect the bottom last. Tighten the upper attaching nuts to 45—65 ft. lbs. and the lower attaching nuts to 14-26 ft. lbs.

i was replacing the springs and didnt have access to a coil spring compressor at the time. so i just compressed the spring by lifting the lca with a jack and heated up the coil until the coils started touching each other. be careful not to cut through the coil (im not sure what would happen but i have a feeling it may jump out)
If you do use a coil spring compressor dont use an impact to tighten it up. DO NOT use strut spring compressors theres not enough room under our cars to use them properly(safely)
