my oil pressure line or sending unit has been leaking. it was leaking before so i cut the line and put a new furrel on it but it wasnt long before it began leaking again. i do have the plastic oil line that i have read wasnt the best line to use. i am considering changing, any suggestions? i would rather fix the line than replace it. also im about to change the intake gasket, whats the best way to seal the front and rear gasket? and torque specs please. also if anyone has a trick for placing the intake straight on and line up the holes in one try? thanks guys
The plastic will probably be okay with the new fitting, just dont OVERtighten it. On the gasket, put a dab of sealant in the corners only. Don't put any sealant along the front and rear cork gaskets. These gaskets are prone to slip out. I always take a center punch and put a nice little indention about every inch or so along the front and rear gasket surface of the block. It gives the gasket something to bite in to.
Autozone has a copper line for under 10 bucks in their gauge section. It's totally worth it. I will never run a plastic line for a oil pressure gauge again. For the front/back part of the intake i use pure RTV, i don't even use the gaskets.
X3 I use the Ford black RTV in a caulking tube for the front and rear gaskets. Never had one leak. Copper line is a necessity. Plastic fatigues with heat and oil saturation. I use electric gauges myself. Use studs or pieces of threaded rod to help you line up the manifold. One one each opposing corner would do it.
ok thanks i already got the black rtv sealer. im gonna get the copper line. id like to take some threaded rods and grind off the threads to the depth of the bolt holes so that i could set the intake on and turn the rods until it is all the way on then pull them out. it does seem a little drastic for something i could surely do by taking my time and bein careful tho. also im not sure if the bolt holes bottom out which would be necessary for my idea to work. but chances are i wont even attempt it lol. again thanks alot everyone
