I'm kinda curious if any one has a 300 I6 in their mav..... i have a efi 300 siting in the shop and am starting my build soon and was curious if any one had pics of the motor mounts or a complete swap. and is there any advice for this project.... i know its not practical but it would be fun. only because i have all the stuff on hand. so why not try it. :D

I don't think it's an easy fit, they are pretty tight, length wise...

Just because you "have all the stuff on hand"...doesn't necessarily mean that is the way to go. The ones I have seen done required cutting of the radiator support and mounting the radiator in front of the support. This swap will require LOTS of fabrication, wiring, etc. I think it would be easier to put a Chevy motor in it. Got any of those laying around? :D

well I guess I will be the first one to say it then... I think it will be an awesome swap. Those 300's are really tough engines. The are torquey as hell and can be built up to compete with the 302. It just takes the knowledge and the $$$.

If it were me doing it I would lose the Fuel Injection and go with a carb setup, maybe even a small 4 bbl. Just take your time and make your fab work look good and don't just slop it in there. Not saying that you would do that.

Put a nice 4 speed or T5 behind that 300 and she'll be lots of fun when you are done with it.

IMHO, a properly prepared 250 could run just as well as any 300 could even though it has 50 cubic inches less...especially with the aluminum head that is available from www.classicinlines.com and you wouldn't have to do a lick of fabrication...much easier. :D

well it can be done.... i was thinkin about this because its a 300 with a aod.... so it would have great driveability..... ntm it would be cheaper than most the parts to hop up the 250.....

As long as you realize that you're getting yourself into A LOT of fab work (and $$$) I say go for it. You're not the first one doing it, so you've already got someone's mistakes to learn from which makes it way easier.

Yeah, way to go. I think adding the 300 is a good idea since you have it there anyway. There are a few previous posts on here that descripe some things to expect when you do the swap.

The 300 could be wicked quick and leave a lot of 302's behind wondering what the hell just happened. Monster low end torque for the displacement! I say go for it---that's one of the reasons we're interested in cars.

Probably one of the best engines Ford has ever made. A bud of mine in service at a dealership said it took them about 20 minutes to kill one when they had to destroy an F-series truck during the "cash for clunkers" incentive.

If your for hopping one up, go 300. The 200 and 250 are great but require more fab/head work and more $$$ in the long run than the big block six.

I don't think it would be all to hard for the swap
I've not ready any posts on it but I would assume lowering the mounting brackets (for the trans and motor) and tooling around with radiator/front support which would be the biggest hassle of the swap. Suspension/steering trouble maybe???

If you could find a *Chevy* 292 that would be even better

Much easier to work on and cheaper to hop-up
