I think it would help me out a lot if I could see as many pics of installed headers as I can, and would no doubt help others as well.

If you have either Hedman 88300's or Summit G9031's, I would be grateful for some pics that show the area around the shock towers, crossmember, engine mounts, steering, underneath, really any place where it's a close fit or where one might think it would be a close fit. If you happen to have a 351w with either of those headers then I would especially love to see as many shots as you're willing to post. (Be warned though, I'll probably pester you to death in PM's) But 302 pics will help me a lot too... Even if you don't have those Hedman or Summit headers, go ahead and post up and tell us what we're looking at!

    Many thanks...

I'm not sure why Summit keeps trying to sell a header that has never fit our car??? Sorry they don't and won't fit unless you do some serious modding.

    As always just my .02

Well I had to find out the hard way, but the Summit G9031 headers did fit. Yes it took some modifying, no argument there, but I didn't cut my towers back nearly as much as most people do when they make that mod for whatever reason. You just about can't tell I did anything when you're looking down at the engine. I cut some out of the lower portion of the tower and did a "Shelby drop" on the upper control arms, made a few dings on the tubes but nothing serious, hit the firewall a little bit, notched my crossmember, welded the bracket on the frame for my power steering, shaved a tiny bit off a corner of the steering box, ground off the ends of a couple of bolts that were in the way... Plug-and-play, nothing to it!

It looks like you and I don't have a problem turning a wrench or using a grinder, firing up the cutting torch and welder. Now lets be real, there are a few guys on here that would love to be able to bolt on a set of headers without cutting, beating, grinding or welding.

I've never seen a set yet that could go on with just lifting up the motor for room to get them in and then just bolt them on. Its a shame that after all these years no one has made a set that would do just that. just sayn

By the way, if someone knows of a easy on set PLEASE set me straight. I'm sure a lot of people would like to know who makes them and the part number.

Yeah, I see your point... As far as I can tell there is no easy way to get headers on a 351w in a Maverick. Crites headers are supposed to be the easiest, but they're hard to get.

Are you referring to headers for a 351w or for a 302? On my 302 my Hedman headers are easy to get on and no denting or pounding of anything was needed. Just lift the motor a little an feed the passenger side header in from the top and the drivers side up from the bottom.

Thanks Ryan, do you have a part number?

As stated by facelessnumber, if we are talking about a 351W then you better be able to mod and fab but a lot of Maverick/Comet owners are only looking to increase a little power and maybe add some sound.

    Thanks, Terry

I dont have a part number since its been so long. I think I have the ceramic coated 1 5/8" set but they are a dull Ceramic and now they look like the Ceramic coating they sell is shiney. they 4 versions. The difference is either steel or stainless, and what type of coating. I have had them on my car for about 12 years and havent had any issue.
