After selling mine about 18 years ago I have really been missing it recently. Well tonight I went and looked at one that an old neighbor has had under plastic tarps for several years. It's a white 72 grabber auto trans with factory a/c. The body is surprisingly solid as are the floors. The front underside of the hood is definitely the worst rust on the car and the hood will probably need to be replaced. There are some small holes on the roof around the drip rails because it had a vinyl roof. The interior is pretty bad, bench seat is fubar. The original engine is still in the car and turns over easily with a 1/2 drive ratchet but there hasn't been a battery in the car for 5 or more years. The owner all the parts for the car that he has collected over the years plus some extras including a perfect black dash pad and they all come with the car. I tried to attach a couple of pics here but it said a security token is missing. Hopefully someone can tell me how to fix that! LOL

Oh he is selling it. He is asking $1200 for it. I'm on the fence about it though. I still haven't finished my 62 falcon project and I'd probably have to sell my 72 cadillac hearse (which I drive all the time to shows, cruises, races) for a non-running maverick that needs alot of work. Tough decision. I'm truly a ford guy and a maverick lover though so I'm leaning towards getting it.

Just keep in mind...that car will need EVERYTHING. All new brake lines (including the steel ones). Probably will need rewired or at least remove all the wiring and go thru it all and make sure no mice have made a lunch of it. Rebuild the tranny, all new bearings and seals everywhere, etc.

Just what I needed to hear. :yikes: Thanks Craig, LOL! Yeah I figured on all of that and then some. That's why I'm on the fence about it.

There might be an easier way, but try restarting your browser. I get that msg a lot when I try to mark all posts as read. Kill the browser and restart it and it works for me.

Sgaugeguy, I'm in Robbinsville. Click on the link in my sig for my web site. Would be great to have you there!

Jsarnold, thanks for the help. I tried again and it worked with no problem. Not sure what the deal was the first time.

My brain is telling me not to get this car but my heart wants it!

I'm sitting here waiting for the flatbed to deliver my maverick. I'm very anxious! I think I got a good deal on this car. It may look rough but it's mostly cosmetic. There is NO cancer on this car anywhere. There are a couple of pinholes here and there but that's it. No rust around any of the wheel wells. The floors are solid too. The car was originally from Florida and it's been parked and covered pretty much since it got here. I do have a 73 six cylinder parts car a buddy is giving me for free. The parts car has fiberglass fenders, a good windshield, racing buckets, slapper bars, a roll cage and he is also giving me a pair of (my beloved) bobcat taillights that he bought for it 20 years ago (when I had my maverick) and never put them on. Here's a picture of my previous maverick.

Looks like a car you can pour your heart and soul into. Mine was worse than that when I started.

I know of a Grabber not to far from me that has sat a long long time. In fact it's the same color combo as yours. I asked about it twice in the last 20 years and get the same answer "we're going to fix it up". I've actually watched the front of the Grabber hood rot out over the years I've driven by the car. Glad to see that your car finally get's the attention it needs.

Good Luck and keep us updated :thumbs2:
