My turn signal cam was broken so I bought a new one and followed Acornridgeman's very nice cam replacement thread. Problem is it didn't work. Before the turn signals would at least work, now they don't. I turned on the hazard lights and they work but only on the front lights, not the rear. Don't know what that means. Also the reverse lights don't work but they didn't work before anyways. I unplugged the column wires and pulled the whole thing out and found the broken piece of the original cam but still no luck.

So, I'm lost. Any suggestions on finding my way home?

For the reverse lights, do you have an aftermarket radio? The power for the reverse lights, is fed from the light for the radio circuit.

yeah. It's not a standard radio. In fact, I discovered that it has a handle that I can pull the radio out of the car.

OK, bought the Shop manuals for my Maverick, and then I ended up replacing the entire turn signal switch assembly. Guess what? I now have turn signals. SO, I should pass inspection so I can "legally" get on the road. 2 things left to do, 1) fix the reverse lights (bulbs work, I guess switch is dead). and 2) but a new steering wheel on (in the mail).

OH yeah, one last thing that I can't find in the manual. My new turn signal assembly came with a little light bulb. I'm assuming that is for a later model. What do I do with it? Snip it off? I believe it is for lighting up the key switch but I don't have a place to put it.

It is for the shift indicator illumination.

OK, that makes sense. But I don't have a shift indicator. I have a 3 speed manual on the column. Now what do I do with it?

Zorares I did the exact some thing a couple years ago. Bought a new turn Signal cam and tried just replacing that. I could not get it to work with all 4 turn signals at the same time. the metal prongs on the cam that made the contact with the switch were just a bit off. I messed with them for an hour or more and bent them one back and forth. I got the fronts or back to work or left or right but never all at the same time. So I gave up and ordered a whole new switch. I ened up getting the newer design for the later years with the better cam on it thats less likely to break. I also had that extra light on mine. Pretty sure i just cut it off because i have floor shift.

Thanks Ryan. Glad to know that I was not alone with this problem. I hate to do it but I do believe that I'll end up snipping the bulb off.

Where did you find your switch? When I needed mine I couldnt find one locally. I ended up getting a Ford OEM one off Ebay and cost $75.

Same style as the one I got with the upgraded cam. If you do cut that little light off make sure you insulate the wire so it dosnt short out and pop the fuse.
