Picked her up from the painters. Wanted to take a picture when we got home, but Matt took a detour to his girlfriend's house on the way home to show it off. That was 5 hours ago and the daylight is gone. Guess pictures will have to wait.

New donor trunk to replace rusted out one -- $75
Fee for paint, prep, welding and rust removal - $2,300

Look on son's face when he saw his repainted Mav for the first time - PRICELESS

Installed a new thermostat, water pump, timing chain, all gaskets in the front and a new fan belt. Tomorrow I should be getting a new heater core and new rad hoses.

I vacuumed mouse crap out from the dash, replaced instrument cluster lights, and tried to figure how to buff surface rust off the dash face so I don't have to repaint it..I didn't get that one figured out.

Go to a auto paint supplier and buy some metal prep. It will take rust right off.

Works on all steel, but the heavier the rust the more work or effort. It's used to clean metal surfaces before painting/priming. I have used it to remove rust that was under a vinyl top and after a long body work project just prior to priming/painting

To get the heavy rust, I laid paper towels over the section and with a spray bottle I kept the towels wet. It took a couple of hours, but the metal was clean as new after that.
