My cousin Ronnie who bought my Comet new has intrusted me to restore his departed dads 68 Cyclone GT 500. After a little research I found it to be perhaps another odd ball car. It's just 302 2v car but it may be a promotional car Mercury had done according to this link. This is kind of a reunion for these two cars. My cousin said he has a similar picture from the early seventies. This thing feels like a time machine. I wish it were mine!

If it were mine I wouldn't touch it, clean original cars are so hard to find.

You sure these aren't just really good old pictures? :D

Wow ... nice cars! I like the Cyclone so much more than the same body style Torino.

I have serious reservations about doing anything to it now that it's in my garage. He wants to put a 347 stroker in it. I have a 332 in the Comet but kept it as original as possible cosmeticly and he loved it when I let him drive it. After all he was the original owner. He wants me to do somthing similar with the Cyclone. The original engine will be preserved. He's gonna own it for the rest of his life, but as was said previously its only original once.

Nice pictures. Great looking comet you have there. You need to put some shots of it in the gallery. Those wheels facinate me. I have only ever seen them in pictures of Stabbers. Is the oval portion raised? I would like to see a close up of that wheel if you wouldnt mind just to satisfy my curiosity. Personally I would rather see that car caged and back halved with a stroked big block coming up through the cut hood. But thats just me. Any idea what that Cyclone is worth as is? I cant imagine the figure would be high enough to make me want to keep it unrestored.

I'll take some pics of the wheels this afternoon and send them to you. I thought the same thing about it til I figured out that Stabbers are pretty unique. I'm back and forth on the Cyclone. It's never been touched but it is as slow as molasses. It only looks fast. It leaks oil. At the very least it needs to be resealed.
