What u put in these cars depends on ur mechanical knowledge, fabrications skills and checkbook. If u do a search on the forum u'll find there's quite-a-bit of different engines installed in these cars. I wud say the easiest is the type of engines that came in these cars. That being said -small blk V8 289,302,331,347 etc., also the 351W and or 351 Cleveland probably the most popular. For the inline grp it's 200 or 250. I wud say the C4 auto is the trans that is most widely used in these cars - thou some are using the Ford AOD w/ some mods. If u don't have a lot of the above mentioned skills and or finances - It is my opinion to go for the engines that came in the cars. WELCOME TO THE FORUM FRM NORTHEAST ILLINOIS....:Handshake
A simple bolt in would be: 6-cylinder: 170, 200, 250 V-8: 302, 351W Any other engine would require some modifications to the car in order to get it to bolt in or even fit. For an auto trans...the easiest would be a C4.
well I tried the search but I got mess up so when I figure that out I do more often thanks for the welcome and the info also Craig the 302 is what I was thinking but did not know it would fit
Ok! I wud think the 302 and C4 auto is ur best bet. While the engine is out I wud do any work on my brakes, steering and suspension at this time. A lot easier w/ no engine to work around.
Stroked/Blown 460 with AOD. That way, u can still have decent fuel economy while making up for running late. Welcome! Eric
