Differences in frame stands

    I was wondering if anybody has any insight on the 2 different types of frame stands used on v8 cars. I have disassembled many cars and only 3 that have had the style without the ear sticking out. How many of you have this style. I know they are factory original because my car has them and the other cars that I have found them on were factory v8 cars.

    Mine did not have ears on them and that confused me. I even wondered if mine were acually V8 mounts till I saw different manufactured new ones :hmmm::hmmm:

    Would ears tend to be a later style from what you have observed?

    I am thinking some kind of added safety if a motor mount deteriorated.

    From what I have observed it didnt matter about years, or where the car was made.

    I've found both and like you said Mike, no year specific to it that I have noticed. Come to think about it, I have even had 1 of each type on the same car.

    Maybe thats why I just had one of the style without ears until recently, luckily I found the opposite side last weekend :)

    If you are talking about cars with autos and cars with manuals the stands without the ears have been on cars with autos to the best of my memory
