So before the sun went down i was able to put the springs in.. they are new 8306 moog springs with one coil cut and the Cj pony parts "rubber" insulators.. they are more on soft plastic side than actual rubber....

There is no aluminum manifold, carb, cam, lifters, timing chain cover n water pump on the engine.. there is also no shocks installed.. i don't know if the shocks would limit the height of the car??

anyway, this is how the car is sitting now with the springs just installed

Shocks shouldn't affect height. They are really just there to smooth out washboarding.

I figured as much.. was just hoping the possibility, that a fully extended shock was shorter than the suspension travel..

lets see what happens once i get it running and give the suspension some settling time/miles.. maybe i won't return the orielly compressor just yet..lol.. I was actually thinking that with that plate style compressor that I may be able to cut the springs in the car..

New spring will need 4-6 months to settle

I just put these same springs on mine. When I pulled the old ones, I measured them against the new ones. New ones were .25" taller than the old ones. I figure thats normal for a 40year old spring.

What I don't understand here is ... If you cut a coil off of your new springs, how come its sitting as high as mine with the full springs in? I will post some pics later. I did a complete front suspension replacement everything moog except the upper control arms, Granada disc conversion, and a power to manual steering conversion with new tie rods, bushings, and idler arm.

I just plan to replace the rear springs and then I will adjust to get the cars stature. I may also have to get some larger wheels and tires. I really like my 14" Magnum 500's though.

Also no radiator, a/c condensor, no 2 gallons of coolant/water, maybe no alternator, a/c compressor, what else is out of it? Put it all back togethor and take it around the block and lets see how it sits.

And why not work on the concrete slab thats in the picture behind the car instead of in the dirt?

I found a before and after pic of my Falcon after a spring swap. The photos were taken about one year apart. You can see that it settled about 1-1/2" lower with time

Nice car. Now that amount of settling I can see. HIs looks a lot higher to me. Maybe just the pic. Also it sounds like its not complete under the hood. That would make a difference too.

Here is my car after all new springs front and rear. I have the same size tire all around in this picture. I think I used the same moog part number you did (i'll have to check when i get home). I have a 250 6 cyl. with a/c. Have you replaced the rear leafs yet? I wound up putting larger tires on the rear to bump it up higher than the front. Its been almost a year and it doesn't look any lower to me than it did last year.

the radiator is out, the condenser is still there (loose) the alternator is still on and so is the a/c compressor.. although the a/c stiff is coming off the car.. but ya.. I'm not too worried about it.. its going to look like that or higher when launching..lol

the concrete slab is new and I don't want oil stains on it.. if you recall the guy we bought the car from, his driveway was nasty looking... the comet leaks like no other...... there is a bigger picture to the backyard with a work area.. just need to get more funds..

No plans to replace the rears.. that would only even it out at the higher stance.. I would like it to even out at the stance the rear has now... i might have time to put the engine together today.. got to get some shocks also...
