Ok, it is in the Stone Mountain Georgia area, this is what I was told today.....it has a 351 Windsor in it from the 70's, it also has a four speed(close ratio)toploader, cable clutch setup, the engine as I was told, had a cam put in by his bro in law, it was not done right and resulted in some bent valves, a 9" rear with gears (didn't say what) in it, he said he will sell it to me but still has no price in mind for all of it, I told him I would be willing to make and offer next week and pay for his fuel to go get it and bring it to me, we shall see what happens, he has a lot of attachments to the car because it was his dad's, but he knows I will give it a good home.

Thanks for the offer Frank, but I have seen pics and trust this guy like a brother, he is one of the most pleasing folks to be around that I have ever known, not only did I work for him at one time but he is also a friend. :D

Well now, Hagerty called, I was not at home, they called at exactly 5:00, I was out having dinner on my day off, in the message she left, she said that bids from the salvagers were in and for me to buy back the car would be (might wanna be sitting down) $1800.00!!!!
Well that ain't gonna happen, now give me my money and get this piece of scrap out of my yard!!!
I have not had a chance to speak to anyone yet.

The $1800 is what everyone was telling you is negotiable.

Yeah I know but she talks like they have a bid on it for that amount, if they do, whoever is bidding on it is out of their mind, I'll know tomorrow when I call them back.

They are bluffing and expect you to come back with an offer. No yard will pay that much for a body worth scrap and an engine thats worth a couple hundred. Put your poker face on and play a couple hands.

Probably just their standard tactic they use to try and rip people off. After all that are in the business of making money.

Absolutely a bluff! Either counteroffer or tell them to come get it out of your way. If it was at my shop I'd be charging them a daily storage fee ($30) too. Makes the negotiations a bit more interesting when they don't hold all the cards.
