They function well otherwise. But this is pretty concerning.

I would unbolt the strut and check to see if the lower mount is actually broken or bent. Aluminum does not tend to bend, it will typically fracture instead. Does the manufaturer of the part provide any type of guarantee?

Isn't the lower support two pieces, that screw into each other? I just did a quick search on Google and found nothing similar.

Doesn't call for any Loctite? I wonder if it could be a spring rate issue? Either way, they should be able to handle the load, but that's a lot of weight on those threaded inserts.

Looks like it probably can be repaired with some replacement parts if available.

I think I would look for a different option, imagine what could have happened at Silver State with that breaking all the way

I think I'd get some made out of steel. I wouldn't trust aluminum in a single shear mount like that. Or go back with the aluminum and fab a steel bracket for the top side so the cross bar would be in double shear to support both sides....

Have you called Chris Alstons yet? Thats terrible. I wonder what they'll say. Looking at that last photo in the instructions, I suspect the threads prob stripped out from that end. There's not much thread in there.

alright, so it's time to address these shocks...
got a few emails back and forth with a tech from Varishock....
basically he thinks it's improper installation and mentioned that for years these shocks have worked great the way they were meant to be installed .... so he sent me a replacement part and they changed their instructions...

Mo, I'm curious as to how they could have been installed any different than what the "new" instructions show? Whatever, it looks like a lot of stress on those long "wing style" ears. Like the entire weight of the front end plus whatever forces go through the suspension on compression... Maybe if they were steel instead of aluminum?
