http://www.lencoracing.com/ST1200MasterPage.html I was doing some reading on it and there is some explanation on their website. They claim it can handle 1200 hp and be used on the street and of course for racing. I couldn't find pricing.
I couldn't find anything about it having reverse. There is something about a "reverse lockout", what's that?
its just for drag racing you use the clutch to take off with then each lever is a gear yank it back to change gears no clutch reverse lockout means just that its locked no chance to accidentally hit reverse you usually lift up on a seperate lever to put it into reverse they are very expensive used mostly in pro stock classes wouldn't consider it on the street unless your street racing for money
i used 1 behind my blown s10 ,its a rough shifting ,but is un breakable to 2000hp do have a reverse you can add as many gears to it as you want ,i used a 3 speed with a reverse in mine
Your probly going to have to contact them for a price Santa is gonna need a fat wallet for one of them
I'll have to do more reading because I can't quite understand how it would work without a clutch. I presume it would be LOUD. Well, as of right now I can't hear really anything in my car when driving so couldn't get too much worse.
if you have to ask the price you can't afford it. If you want to a less expensive transmission look at a gforce, they can be found used for around $6500
It's made for drag racing, not road racing. It works without a clutch just as the other drag racing manual transmissions are (Jerico) It's just slammed from one gear to the next. You'd be better off with a Toploader 4 speed or Doug Nash 5 speed, or a 6 speed Tremec. Small blockToploaders will handle 600 ft/lbs of torque and shift like butter. Never used a Nash. Had a 5 speed Tremec in my 06 Stang GT, it shifted fine, except for downshifts from 2nd to 1st. It wasn't nearly as forgiving as my Toploaders were though.
Lenco makes a street version of the trans. Like mentioned, you can get as many gears as you want, they basically "add on". You only need the clutch to start from a stop. From what I remember there is some sort of clutch with each gear but I could be wrong about that. There is no engine braking with a lenco. In other words when you let off the gas you better have good brakes because you're just freewheeling until you get on the gas again. I think when I priced one out it was around $7500 or more for a street 5 speed. I would LOVE to have one in my maverick with a stroker cleveland motor!
