never thought about a dead battery. I souldve known since I used to go through that same crap on an almost daily basis and got stranded that way more than one in my old ford truck. that thing was definitely a fix or repair daily
Thanks again for the help people! Don especially- I got on the horn with him for help, but unfortunately he didn't have factory ac, so the process wads totally different. In any case, after a couple of hours of cussing and bending my 6'5 frame into ways I'm pretty sure it wasn't meant to bend, we finally removed the alternator without having to completely remove the ac pump (OR the radiator/fan). Putting it back in will be another story all together, but I'll deal with that road when I get there. Gonna try to put a new one in tomorrow morning before work but I really don't see that happening, especially since I'll only have one pair of hands. When picking up new alternators is there anything I should know or be weary of? Thanks again to everyone for all the suggestions and help, I really do appreciate it!
I would purchase a new voltage regulator as well. When you re-install the alt...Make sure the battery is fully charged before you start the car. Be certain the alt light on the dash lights up when you turn the key on and also, goes off once the car is running. If that light dont light...The alt wont charge. Good luck shortie!!!
Thanks MavMan and '71! Where does the voltage regulator go? Also, any idea why My alternator light never warned me about this problem?
Reg is next to battery on fender apron, mounted lower than solinoid, you cant miss it. Bulb may be burned out or the wire is broken. Or both, have to check it out man...
