So I was looking around through some relatives stuff and found a quick change rearend. Now my question is would one of these be good for a street car? Would a ford 9 be better?

Do you have a photo of what the quick change looks like?

I used Winters rears in pavement Modifieds back in my circle track days and they were much heavier than 9 inch rears and used large wide 5 hubs - these were not feasible for street use.

the quick change wont clear the gas tank. it uses straight cut gears in the quick change parts. straight cut gears whine really loud. they are very expensive rear ends to build and to fit into a car. if you want to get really custom and dont mind spending money its a unique way to go. a 9" can be done for way less.

it use to be used for circle track so it has the wide 5 hubs. just thought it would be a cool idea because of the ability to change the gears for track and daily driving.

Yep, definitely fitment issues and more than likely way too wide....I ran a Winters in a tube frame mustang and between the rear and the Jericho 4 spd. the whining was badass.

How was it driving that Jerico? I just bought a DR4 box with roadrace sliders for my 'other" project, which will be a limited-use street romper. I've watched several You-tube vids and it looks pretty simple to drive with or without the clutch...

I just used the clutch for leaving the pits and downshifting, which was probably more instinct than anything
