I'm needing to get rid of the A/C compressor, P/stg and anything else to simplify a 1975 302 to 1 or maybe 2 v-belts. The water pump and p/stg are on one belt and it doesn't appear to line up with any other pulleys. All I need is the water pump and alt. on the engine. Any tricks or tips? I think I read here that you can get a non-A/C water pump pulley to get started but I can't find one. Any idea what I need to look for?

I haven't looked at the system real good yet but if it's like this pic on the left, maybe I can just get rid of the A/C compressor and p/stg and get a shorter belt for the water pump. But I think mine has a smog pump in the mix somewhere.

I read I may need to get a different year water pump too. ?

Easier said than done. They don't line up together. I'm know that's what needs to be done, but how? I read a very vague description in another thread that someone had to get a different year model water pump and pulley to bring it in line with the alt.

Depending on your budget. I ended up with a low mount gm alt. Everything is electric, water pump, fan, thats it.

I got my alt and waterpump only brackets and pulleys from a mid 70s ford truck with a 302 man steering no ac, its a lot easier to find these in a truck. You may only need the waterpump pulley and crank pulley but I got the alt brackets just in case.

Yep I was thinking that too. More trucks around in the junkyards too. I may have to make a trip to the pick a part and look around. Ebay is no help. None of the pulleys have much of a description.

Ford made so many pulleys its best to find a working set on another engine and get the whole set than trying to find the right size pulley you need

The bad thing is there isn't many old vehicles around here where I live. It's even getting rare to see 80s models. The city is hard on cars sitting around and most of them got crushed when steel prices went up.

I saw that one. That's an option but I'm wanting stock looking pulleys if possible. I'm using this engine in my Mustang and I want it look "generally" look like a stock J code 68 Shelby engine like this without a bunch of aftermarket stuff.

The Shelby parts will need TLC

Plan is to get the car going with this engine, then put something alot stronger in later on.

    I had a set I just sold....

You need to make sure the crank is a 4 hole pulley, some are three.

Hard to find a vehicle made with a v8 and yet no P/S.

Try this guy: (651) 437-6787 Minnesota

His name is joe, has an all ford junk yard and knows tons. He most likely has them. That's where I got mine 12 years ago.
