Ok does anyone else have these problems when pumping gas at the pump

I have to pump it real slow or it will come back out or it will stop the gas nozzle because it won't flow fast enough

and I have to stand there crouching over with the pump at an angle with it slowly pumping gas.......? Is it just me or does everyone have these problems

69.5 maverick with the drop in tank

Its because your car is spitting up that crappy gas back up! I have the same issue with mine....i just pull it out a little and hold it at an angle to fill it up.

I just flip the nozzle upside down, its not the best solution but it works.

I put the pump at the 4:00 O'Clock position and let her rip, I still get a little slop now and then but for the most part I've got it down.

Lol my 74 spits back tons.. First time I went to fill it not paying attention had a 20 dollar fuel spill. Now it's a back breaking super slow process.. I got a neck off a 72 but I haven't looked to see if it's different..

Getting gas is a slow process anyways as everyone wants to talk so ill be standing there either way.

you need a neck off a 75 or later to be unleaded.

I just holler at the gas monkey that I'm not paying for him/her to slop gas all over my paint. They tend to do a pretty good job. I don't drive my car to places where I have to pump my own gas.

The unleaded neck on my 1976 does the same thing, so I am not sure if that will help you.

holy crap!.. talk about spoiled. lol :p

I don't even know where to find full service stations around here anymore.

Not that I would want those underpayed types banging around on any of my cars with a round tipped hammer that shoots gas anyways. I have enough to worry about with the tire and wheel guys trashing things. lol

I replaced the filler tube on my '74 with the unleaded style. I can go about 90% wide open without splash-back. But better be ready to let go of the trigger once you hear the tank getting full or your shoes will get wet. Here in GA there's not many places that have the spring loaded accordion style nozzle where you have to push the nozzle into the neck. If I see one of them I'm driving to the next gas station to get gas.

It's illegal to pump your own gas here, and those guys make a decent wage. My buddy made 10 dollars an hour as a gas monkey just a couple years ago when he was between careers. I used to make an effort to go to stations that would let me man the pump now I just go to 1 gas station, every week on friday morning, and the same guy pumps my gas. Does a great job, I've got no complaints.

I hold the nozzle at around 9 o'clock, and let it flow around 80%, it's not like it's a huge tank and takes half an hour to fill, like my E250...In the olden days, the nozzles were a little different shape.
