Our garage is being invaded by Mavericks! These two look like evil twins. The one on the left is a '75 Maverick we just painted and I just got done buffing out. The one on the right is the '73 Grabber we did two years ago. It was having an ongoing problem with a power steering pump leak that needed fixing. They look like the same color but they're not. The Grabber is a bit redder in color than the '75. The '75 is far from stock. It has a 351 Windsor, posi-rear and dual exhaust. It's not the greatest picture due to a lack of room, but the hood has a '69 Mustang Mach1 scoop installed and the center of the hood and tail light panel are painted gloss black. Once the chrome is all back on and I can get it outside I will take a better picture of it.
I had to go back and look at old pictures to answer that question. So far we have painted 13 Mavericks and 3 Comets from all over the USA and one from Canada. It's safe to say we know these cars pretty well.
The '75 Maverick is painted the original color called Medium Copper Poly. The Grabber is a 1978 Ford truck color called Medium Chestnut Poly. They are not the same color, but they both have the same paint code: 5M. The PPG code is also the same, but the tints are probably different. The '75 Ford color is a little lighter than the '78 color.
Thanks for the compliment. We try our best to make these cars look as good as we can. We have found that the better they look the more people seem to take them seriously. I've noticed that when my neighbor takes his two Mavericks to a car show that people seem to be drawn to them like moths to a flame. This is a good thing if it gets more people interested in fixing them rather than scrapping them.
Awesome!!! That is a fantastic picture. I see you Dad's Maverick had a vinyl top on it. The '75 we just painted used to have a halo top on it, but somewhere along the line it was removed.

I love seeing pictures of your work! You guys have an outstanding reputation here! Yes, Dad's car had a 302, center caps and trim rings, sport mirrors and the halo roof. It was the reason I bought my first Maverick when I was 14. I believe it was Medium Chestnut for '76 as well.
