Our friends '75 Maverick is now done. All the paint and bodywork is finished and now it's waiting for the seats to be re-upholstered. It still needs a set of FORD letters for the hood and a pair of correct wiper arms. This is the first time it's been out of the garage since the day it arrived. The only thing that still looks crappy is the engine compartment. The cars owner did not want to pull the 351 W so we could paint in there so all it's going to get is pressure washed. The '69 Mach1 hood scoop was a last minute add on. The cars owner was going to try to sell the car for a profit, but he now knows that's not going to happen. He's going to keep the car instead and just enjoy it.
Once again, a perfect job on the paint!!!! BTW, it has '74 bumpers on it. Is the 'owner' sure it's a '75?
Thanks Paul. The car is a very late '74 so it's registered as a '75. The owner took the cheap way out and got the bumpers through Bumper Boys, so who knows what they sent back to him. The bumpers look OK, but I've seen much better.
No. The scoop is just bolted onto the hood for looks. The problem this car has is that the 351W has a high intake and a double pump carb. As it sits now the air cleaner will not clear the hood without rubbing. We've been teasing the guy about cutting a hole in the hood and making the scoop functional but he's not buying into that idea.
Hood Letters Melvin's Classic Ford Parts has them if you desire new.... www.melvinsclassicfordparts.com
The car came out beautiful as expected, Jean - kudos to you and Dale BTW, those are some nice looking chrome boomerangs on that there car - glad they worked out for you
