Yeah there is a catch, I had to send them a defective one... Issue is there were some bad castings in 2006 that the plating peeled and they corroded internally, my old one had blisters inside similar to measles or chicken pox... If you have one these or know someone who does, contact Holley and they'll send you a new one, yes for free all you pay is shipping the defective one to them...
I dunno what the date range is or if it affects multiple models, Holley said a 2008 670 Avenger I have wasn't effected by the prob... The bad one had a date of 0536 which was 53rd day of 2006... First three digits represent day of year, last is is the year... New one has 2383 which is 238th day of '13(Aug 26th), so it's definitely factory fresh... Day calculator for anyone that may be interested... http://www.soils.wisc.edu/cgi-bin/asig/doyCal.rb
Curoisity and a little I-net digging produced this from a Holley rep posted on another board... Carbs affected will have been produced from the 334th to 365th day of 2005 & from 16th to 198th day of 2006, apparently several models had issues...
Well, looking back at my website, I purchased mine in Oct 09. So most likely out of those date ranges. I have not seen any issues, and I have taken it apart several times.
0016 – 1986, bought a 4150 with a date code of 1041, had mine apart twice found blisters and peeling in the float bowls, just wanted to say TY Krazy for posting the info. Carb seems fine now, but if they will send me a new one, hey i want it.
Well thanks, but a date of 1041 would be either '01 or '11, 104th day... AFAIK Holley is only accepting late '05 to mid '06 carbs, doesn't hurt to ask though... BTW the bowls on mine were fine, was the metering block and main body that had issues...
Well crap, that figures, when i first seen the inside of the bowls i thought it was from me running E-30 through it, i was probably right, it's not a Alcohol Carb but i didn't think 10 or 15 gallons would hurt it, thats probably what it was. I'll try anyways, wont hurt to give it a shot. Thanks for posting the info anyways, i'm sure it will help someone.
I think it's something those "computer" guys talk about... For a Holley a assortment of jets, a few gaskets(good insurance) and a afternoon at the track is more fun...
