So... I am going to back half the car....

When cutting the rear floor out, do I need to brace the rear package tray, or the shell at all?

I would think as long as the tail light pan is still in place and you only cut as far back as you absolutely have to to do the back half the car. without cutting out for a fuel cell (if you can) and the floor up front is still in place I dont think you would have to. as long as as soon as you cut it you start working on the replacement/ fabrication right away not leaving it cut open for months or even years.
just leave the upper part of the x brace or speaker panel in place and that should be brace enough for a short period of time.

frank would be the one to tell you I believe he just back halved his comet not that long ago or bob hatcher if I remember right he did a balk half on his car himself as well

If you haven't mini tubbed it yet..............just to be on the safe side I would brace it across the top and bottom................especially since you have the body on your jig/stand. Again, I personally would do this as a safety measure just to make sure nothing moved. If you had mini tubbed it and everything was welded....then I wouldn't worry as much.....a little added work on bracing it may be overkill..................IMHO

I am going to go with the Eliminator II based off of research on the forums, and google all point to that being a good setup.

Thanks, that is what I was thinking. Rather brace it than regret not doing it later. Gotta pick up some steel tube to make it happen.

Went over to my cousins house to help him weld a front clip on his 72 Grabber. He transfered it from another car he has in his garage. I have some pictures, I will upload later. 3 mavericks stuffed in a garage :)

thought so myself but nope. and my fuel filter is full and stays full so its not starving for fuel. I even changed the distributor to a new hei and changed the old holley carb to a good edelbrock from my other comet that runs great

Pics from my cousins garage :)

White car that you can see complete is his "drag" car - He does high 15's

Red car -- 15k mile 72 Grabber -- Had front end damage, and was parked in under a tree for years. Cousin picked it up last year sometime. Orignal owner took grabber hood, and rear end out.

White car is another 74 grabber, no title parts car -- cousin in parting it out.

I welded the white 74 grabber front clip onto the red maverick. I didnt get pictures of it tho :(
