Yep, the Lincoln stuff just plain sucks butt and made my life much harder than it had to be early on after buying my first little Lincoln 110 wire-feed welder. My old 10lb spool of Lincoln's .031 wire will likely just rot away on my cart before I'll ever use it again.

For the non-gas units.. wire composition makes all the difference in the world. That's an excellent wire and I've also used the Fabshield 23 on many projects with excellent results as well. (y)

Looking forward to seeing progress of the extra work you're considering doing here. If yours goes well.. I may just consider tearing into mine far more than originally anticipated too.

    Nice!

You still shouldn't underestimate the differences a good quality wire can make though. (y)

    Alright!

Ordered up the backhalf kit, it will be here between the 3rd, and the 5th of january. Hopefully it comes on my birthday (4th) :).

Need to order the front frame rails, and get some steel to brace the car up, take some measurements for future when putting everything in... Going to rebuild my own torque boxes, and get it as if the factory did it, or at least that is my plan.

(For future ordering through CA Chassisworks, make sure you ask for a "deal", I did and got around 80$ off for everything. You would be suprised what you get when you ask :) )

    Gonna order these now...

I will plug weld a 2x3 .120 rectangle tube into these frame rails, then also spot weld the rails to have the factory "look", but everything will be clean, straight and look better than my rails now.

I should have the chassis done, and in the car by March. In the meantime, I am going to start the body work on the fenders, trunk, and clean up a few things I need to do to have the car set in primer.

Stoked to get the new welder on Saturday!

    Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :bananaman:bananaman:bananaman

    Lol, wild is good.

Car will be a work of art when I am done. Definitely will be off the wall custom.

Got the mig welder tonight, set it up. Need to get a bottle and should be up and going!

If you have a tractor supply in your area, they do a exchange like your BBQ grill tank... First bottle is a little more after that it's fairly cheap...

And I would add.. that with the amount of welding you'll be doing for the rest of your project here.. don't even bother with the small or even midsized bottles if you can afford it right now.

Unless you have easy access/availability for a quick bottle swap(many don't even refill onsite anymore and you're subject to bottle size availability at any given moment).. the absolute smallest you'll want to go will probably be the 40lb bottle of argon/co2. Really sucks to run out of gas late at night or on a Sunday because you forgot to check the bottle level. And you'll inevitably forget to turn the bottle off on ocassion as well.. so there's that too.

Ill pick up a bottle from a rental company. I'll rent for a few months, then buy one.

Im eager to get these parts I ordered. I think in the mean time I will pickup some high build primer, and finish working on the 1/4's. Also need to swing out to sandblast drop off some stuff, and pick up a few things.

$11/mo to rent a bottle. Gonna do this for awhile then buy the bottle for $230, but I would rather spend that money on stuff I need and give me the ability to get some work done that is needed with the welder. I also need to pickup a powered Grinder because my air compressor is full of frozen water and it keeps freezing my tools, and fingers.

So much little stuff to do, I just don't know where to begin nor order it in priority.

    Help.

Picking up a grabber spoiler to recreate, and modify from Bob Maverocket. ill swing by his house tomorrow sometime time and grab it.

Makes sense. And I know how your compressor and tools feel.. I'm starting to hate winter more and more every year as I get older.

Is that the spoiler that Bob was working on to have duplicated? Pretty similar to a Shelby spoiler with the center notch?

If it is.. post some pic's of it and your recreation to gain another 100 subscribers to your build thread here. If that actually is the same spoiler I'm thinking of.. your build just got "MEGA interesting".

And be damned sure you're very careful with it.. because I know Bob has many friends he could call for a "quick favor" if something happened to it. :D
