Help

I can't get my maverick to start. We got it started by putting gas in the carb at first. We replaced the fuel filter and pump. Also the ignition coil. Now it cranks but won't turn over.

This may be a dumb question but did you accidentally switch the two wires on the coil?

@Mustang1989 not sure what way should they be hooked up? green to green right?

I'm really not trying to be a smart a$$. Just an honest to gosh question bud.

Battery voltage on the + side and distributor hook up on the - side.

Looks like the Red/ Lt Green wire goes to the positive side of the coil bro.

@Mustang1989 thanks I was trying to be rude earlier. I really don't know anything about working on this car. We put the green to green and I think my dad said red to black or something like that. We aren't getting spark so we are a little confused. We just bought the voltage regulator and starter solenoid off rockauto so hope that helps. We will try that when they come in. You can shoot any ideas or upgrades my way and I would be very grateful.

The two electrical terminals on the coil are marked if you look next to the terminals. One has a positive + and the other a negative - . Red/ Green wire goes to positive and the other wire comes from the negative terminal of the coil and goes over to the distributor. If it started before you replaced the coil and nothing else was changed it seems that you either have the wires reversed on the terminals or a bad coil.

In addition....if you put too much gas down the carburetor to get it started you may have flooded the engine which will give you a "crank-no start " condition.
