Sport mirrors were an option on non-GT cars too. I also see no evidence of any GT stripes on the car.

That is Elford Fox's '72 Comet GT. He is from Candor, NC. He still has the car. It is a 302 with a 3 speed floor shifted manual trans.
Dual sport mirrors were part of the GT package on a Comet. All Comet GT's had the 'Comet GT' side stripes so the upper chrome molding didn't come...
The Comet looks like it isn't a GT. It has the upper chrome molding, the rocker chrome molding and doesn't look like it ever had a passenger side...
Bumper Boyz rechromed the bumpers many years ago on my '67 Mercury Cyclone GT. I thought they did a very good job.
Why not put a '71-'72 Comet bumper on your car?
