Alright, as my first serious post, was there ever any factory Boss 302 Mavs? A guy I know, who is a car nut, swears up and down that he saw several of them on a train that derailed near here. Said they were fresh from Ford, and that there were "several" of them. Thanks 70grabber

I have been told that there may have been as many as 7 made (I know for a fact there was at least one). They were prototypes and never put into production. I bet they kicked some major ass....at least in a straight line...

I have an old Car Craft Magazine with a listing showing Headers for a Boss 302 in a Maverick. I wonder if any mods would be necessary to sqeeze it in ..

I saw one in Mustang and Fords magazine, that someone built. Looked like it fit in there pretty well. Would make an interesting what if project.

I build a Boss 302 and put it in my Maverick, it was in there for two years before I started racing almost every weekend.

That's how I ended up with Bossmav as my sign on name.:bananaman

It fit in without the shocktower mod but only with manifolds not headers, the headers are made by tubular automotive but don't use the 65 mustang mounts that they say you need to because they don't work.

Don't use a C4 tranny, use a 4 speed the Boss motors really like the higher RPM's

They are cool to look at but don't think you are going to burn up the track, not a real good motor to use for drag racing.

Bossmav, have you tried your car in road racing at all?? Could be a pretty hot setup, with the right suspension changes! 1970grabber

1970grabber you are right about the road racing for the boss motor that is where the boss motor really shines.

These engines work very well over 6000 RPM's because of the large ports of the cleveland style heads.

No, I've never had my car set up for road racing just drag and now I've put a 408W in and love that combo.

If I was to do it all again I would setup the car for road racing but with a roller cam in the Boss not a flat tappet.

How far is Harrisonburg from Ft. AP Hill? My brotherinlaw lives near there somewhere? Just wondering. I saw some nice mavericks when I was there a few years ago.
