so does that mean 74-77 2 doors arent worth anything what about one that has had the bumper conversion and grabber/stallion/sprint clones but then they wouldnt be original
Didn't Cars & Parts always rate the 73 Grabber as the highest in value? I'll have to dig out the old copies I've saved, I could never figure that out?? $13640.00 is a nice number now if I would only have bought a few more when I was buying them for $300.......
That's pretty much the size of it. When is the last time you saw a completely restored Sprint for sale...anywhere? Seriously, I think a nicely done Sprint would bring well over $10K and maybe up to $15K, especially if you started with a good rust free car. You just DON'T see them for sale. And that is todays figures. I keep telling you guys that these cars are going up and mark my words, within the next 3-4 years, you will be seeing some Mavericks bringing $20K or better.
Not sure if that is always true ... For Example ... There were more than 10X as many 1969 Mach 1 Mustangs sold than 1969 Mustangs GT's ... although they were similarly equipped. MACH 1's go for $10,000 more than a GT. You add the appearance and the Nameplate and it's worth more to collectors and buyers. Kinda Like GRABBER ... I think the GRABBER name and appearance package will always add additional value to those cars even though there were 70,000 of them built in 71/72 .... IMHO ....
Hey Ray ... I hear you may be selling your Sprint ... trying to jack up the value! :evilsmile Trust me ... I would love to add a Sprint to my collection .. just no room. First mod would be bucket seats like Dennis .... I still can't believe Ford didn't offer the Mustang Sprint buckets in a Maverick .... what were they thinking!
I know...I already have a set of buckets to go in mine. And no, I don't think I'll sell it. It's just too hard to find a car that good. That would be one of those things that I would be forever kicking myself in the ass for selling it...especially in 3-4 years from now.
FYI ... here are NADA prices ... They obviously love the GRABBER ... 71 Grabber : $12,400 72 Grabber : $12,450 72 Sprint: $4,974 (15% added to 2-door value by NADA for Sprint Package) 73 Grabber: 12,300 74 Grabber: 12,400 75 Grabber: 12,350 76 Stallion: $6,031 (10% added to 2-door value by NADA for Stallion Package) Obviously their values need some adjusting.
Hi Guys, Any idea what a factory 302 Stallion with factory slot mags and A/C is worth? I'm putting a grabber hood, small bumpers and a 325 hp 302 under the hood and painting it back the original black and white. I know i should keep it original, but it's not for sale - just curious what it's worth!! Thanks, Jason
Never seen a Black & White Stallion ... post some pictures? Wanna sell it? :evilsmile Just kidding .... Can't tell you what it's worth without condition info and Pictures. A fully restored one just went for $7,000 with a 250/6-cyl ...
Geez, all this talk of Sprints lately just makes me want to rip my hair out that I can't get that on in Pull-A-Part.
I'll try to get some pictures posted this week. The car still had the original paint until six months ago. Shes all in primer now and will hopefully be ready to start reassembly by fall. The factory paint was black and polar white. I actually found NOS stallion fender decals on E-bay for $28.00. What a bargain!!
IMO, the reason the GRABBER is "booking" for more than the SPRINT is because those that make these ratings are not in the "Know" on these cars. Everybody and their mom has heard of the GRABBER moniker.....the SPRINT on the other hand, IMO, is left more to the true blue oval faithful....I agree with Dennis that it would only seem right that the SPRINT would be of more value due to its one year production. Plus, even to me....the GRABBER just sounds more "muscle car" than the Sprint.
I don't know. They usually post these values based on known sales results, and face it, other than hardcore mav enthusiasts, Grabbers commands a lot more money with people who don't know Mavs as well. Just because the Sprint is as valuable to us or that it was made only one year does not guarantee increased value with the reast of the world. If rarity was the only indicator, the Sprint would be worth double the Grabber and many other cars that are more popular. Rarity is just one factor in value, certainly not the only one. Demand has to be there as well. I used to joke at Car Corrals or swap meets with owners of cars for sale that they claimed were rare, and therefore more valuable. I told tham that "maybe it was rare for a reason. Nobody liked it then and they still don't like it now"
Its funny you should mention that. for example, carol shelbys flip top cobra. he hated it and called it a turd, they only made two because of it. now they are both valued at around a mil. but it doesnt even look different until you open the hood and trunk. the other thing i hate is when someone who buys for the investment jacks the prices up trying to "invest" but doesnt even really understand what he has and talks down cars that by all rights should be worth more. over all though ill just say im glad i got mine and except for insurance reasons i couldnt care less what its worth because it aint for sale
