    Keep in mind, 74-76 or so had much lower compression ratio and the camshaft retarded by 4 degrees on the 302. That will lower the numbers. Not strictly on topic, but added to the generalized statement above.

    An engine with 10:1 ratio will show higher on the gauge that an engine with 8:1. As mentioned above, the ones to really call for attention are the cylinders that are off by more than 20%.
