This was taken today. Spare tire, lug wrench, jack and small toolkit in the trunk, 1/2 tank of gas.

Now, I know it's still a bit high in the back, but I haven't quite decided whether or not I dislike it. Opinions?

I could use lowering blocks, or I could change my leaf configuration and get it level, but I am just so damn satisfied with the way the car rides and handles right now that I'm almost afraid to mess with it.

    Drew,

Thanks for the picture ... it told me a lot.

Measuring your picture and my car, based on the lower edge of the door and extending it out to where it meets the center cap of the rear wheel, I am estimating that it would raise the back of mine 3/4".

This is good because I didn't want to go more than an inch higher. I really like the rake on mine, but the front tires are a bit short visually. If I do the rear springs, I can put a front tire on that has that much more radius and still keep the same rake. (y)

I like your car's stance ... if anything, the front tire diameter makes that wheelwell look a bit full. Are you running the same sizes front and rear? .... I'm old school, like a bit of stagger in sizes ... went a little overboard on mine currently...;)

Glad that helped... Now that you mentioned it, when using the lower edge of the door (or the rocker) and the center cap as a guide, it would appear that the rear of my car didn't get raised above stock nearly as much as I thought it did. 3/4" sounds about right. Looking around in the gallery, it's in line with most of the other cars. Also remember I used the two longest leaves from the van. I could have gone a size down, so if yours gets raised more than you want it, fixing it is easy.

But putting the rear back where it's apparently supposed to be really does exaggerate the drop in the front, doesn't it? In fact, looking at the gallery and again using the rocker/door and center cap for reference, it looks like my front end is lowered at least an inch compared to most others, don't you think? The springs don't feel worn out, so now I'm wondering if my springs have been cut or maybe if was "Shelby dropped" at some point. Will have to check.

You might not believe it from the way the tires fill up the wheel well, but they don't rub. And yes, they are the same size - 235/55/17 front and rear. I might switch to 45's in the front now though. I'm sure the opportunity will present itself. God knows I go through tires like socks.

Your car looks bada**.. What are the specs on the rims that you're using? They appear to be takeoffs of a newer mustang(might be wrong)...Just wondering if you're using spacers to run those rims. I have 17x8 Cobras(off of a 96) with I think about a 5.75 backspacing and was just wondering what size spacers to go with...Thanks
    Josh

    Thanks for the compliment.

You might be wrong... But you're not. They are new Mustang takeoffs, 17x8" and I am using 1.5" spacers. Tires are stock Mustang Pirelli P-zero 235/55/ZR17. The front fender lip is rolled in with a baseball bat, there's a pinch seam inside the fender that I had to pound down a little bit, but they do fit with no interference. On the rear, I had to modify (hammer) the bump stops because they would rub under hard cornering, but that was before the new springs.

    Drew,

my wife's 07 Mustang has those tires ... they work really well ... took the car on vacation and had to do The Tail of the Dragon ... whoo-hoo!

If your car originally was a 6 cylinder, it is possible that the V8 is now making it set a bit lower.

The Shelby Drop does not substantially lower the front on the car... 1 inch drop might result it 1/8 to 1/4" lowering. It changes the angle of the upper A-arm for better geometry when cornering. The outside tire does not get rolled under the car as badly with the mod.
