going to replace the upper control arm, not sure about the steps I'm sure it has been posted before but I can't seem to find it, any help would be appreciated.
It's not hard to do but you'll definitely need a spring compressor. And be extremely careful with that as a suddenly released coil spring can be extremely harmful if not deadly.
can you just compress the spring enough to get the control arm out and leave the spring in the car, anyone changed the upper a arm like that, does the cover in the wheel well area need to be removed?
It is a good idea to lace a piece of chain through the spring while removing in case something goes awry, it won't get too far... Can this be done on the Maverick? - with Falcon's, I compress the spring with compressor thru the top of shock tower - against the top of the shock tower - then remove A -arms and released spring when needed (if removing spring) or just replaced the BJ's without removing wheel well spring cover. have fun
