i started the 6 cyl to 302 transplant today:yahoo::bananaman. we are swapping it at a friends shop in polk county (about 1 hour away). he has all the necessary tools. 302 is already on the lift and is being painted. the 6 is coming out tomorrow and engine bay cleaning begins. i decided to go ahead and paint the engine bay now instead of when i paint the car because i am lazy and don't want to pull the engine out again. My freind Mike was a pro painter for 20 years so he is itching to start the paint work. He also does custom interiors. it's nice to meet up with the right people.
I will post pics later this week to show progress. Best part is that I have every day this week off of school except thursday so I get almost a whole week to play with my car!:thumbs2:

That's cool. I've got the week off, but I'm on painkillers and muscle relaxers right now. So I won't be doing too much this week.:)

jeff- the engine bay and engine will be complete but i am still saving pennies for the body paint. i did have to change the color i wanted somewhat. the ppg spectraflame paint was almost $200 per pint for the color and clear in addition to being a 4 step paint. just got too expensive. i chose a readily available single stage with a clear coat.still green but a different shade of it.
pics will be coming as work progresses.
they won't let me in Old town until the car is one color. right now it is 3. it sucks but thems the rules.

I am the one with the silly smile as we get started. The bold guy is my painter/ interior man Mike

the engine is done!!!! :bananaman:yahoo::thumbs2: while Mike was painting I was scrubbing the bay and tomorrow it gets painted. new steering box and master cylinder are being prepped to install. we found an oil leak prior to painting that we took care of while the engine was out. was coming from the seal behind the timing cover. oh well. easier to fix out of the car rather than after everything is painted and installed.
    more pics as work progresses

the car my oldest is sitting in is Mike's mav project. he has built a full frame under this car with a 4 link rear and mustang 2 front suspention. there is very little axle left in the rear with the tubs he has under this monster. it currently has a nasty small block powering it. still has a way to go but it will be awesome when he is done. will be painted with a tangerine candy paint.
