Hello Everyone, I am trying to get started on restoring a 72 Grabber for my daughter. She is 13 and I haven't been able to start this project because I've been out of work since June 4th "07" due to medical problems. I know she is still to young to drive legally and it may seem like I have a alot of time to do this but I don't. It really hurt's me knowing that this project may not get done but I'm going to try some how to do it before she turns 16. She is so excited about this since she likes Muscle Cars and Old Hot Rods. She has already been telling her friends that she has a car, I just hope and pray I don't let her down. I have thought about trying to find someone to restore it but I know I can't afford that. I had an uncle that was going to help but he past away a few years ago, I guess that's one of the reasons I haven't started yet. Well that's enough about that. So I'm here to try and find the cheapest way of doing this project. The car needs to be done from the ground up, but I'll just settle with it being safe and dependable. Thank You for any help you can provide.
welcome abord. im sure everyone here will be willing to help you along with it, your right, those 3 yars can definatly fly by quick. at least she has good taste. any pics of the car?
Howdy and See if there is a local high school or trade school with an auto class that might be able to do some of the work or take on your project for parts costs. Good luck with it. What part off AL are you residing in?
I'm from a small town called Munford. I'll post some picts as soon as I can. This car was my wifes ex husbands and her first car that she could drive on the road since her parents would not let her drive other than the private driveway. I know I'm gonna need a passenger door and possibly a hood, my wife had a door but it was at her ex's relatives and we don't know if they still have it. I want to go with disc brakes all around, it needs paint, headers, exuast, minor interior work and under the hood needs quite a bit of work. The motor needs cleaning, new paint and a few parts that I can get from our 69 ford p/u. It has a three speed trans. that only has 1st. 3rd. and rev. it won't stay in 2nd. I want to put the automatic from the truck in it since it only has about 2 miles on it after it was rebuilt. I would like some input about that. The auto is a C4, I would like to go with a 4 speed if it just has to be a manual speed. We used to live in Morristown Tn. and this car set up about 10yrs. and it was driven from Munford Al. to Morristown Tn. with no problem. { FORD TOUGH } This is one reason we like this car plus it's easy to work on since you don't have all the wires and other things in the way. You would not believe the people that have tried to buy this car, I was raised that if you want to keep something put a high price on it and people will leave you alone. That's for the ones that keep on asking. Thanks Again for your support.
Dude I'm from Anniston and my grandparents live in Talladega. I live in Ohio now. Good luck with the rebuild and welcome aboard.
