Been trying to sort this out for about a week now whenever I get a bit of time... The needle/seat was giving me issues on the primary side so I changed that and I still got a problem. Once I get the car warmed up it'll run and idle great. If I give it gas quickly so flash it up to 4500ish or so it quickly falls back down to 2500-2000rpm and stays there for a second then slowly returns to 1200 idle rpm. What could be causing this? The floats aren't sticking at all as I've had it apart and checked, but sprayed them down with cleaner anyways... Just looking for some idea'a on what maybe it can be, thanks

Oh and before I changed the needle& seat if give it has the same way and it would sometimes actually get stuck open at 2600 rpm or whatever.. Sometimes coming back down extremely slow or sometimes staying for a few mins. The needle seemed to stick when I pulled it out - carb is 2 years old now if that matters

WD40 around the throttle shafts where they go thru the throttle body and work the linkage several (20-30) times and squirt it every 10 pumps or so. They sometimes get old gas varnish sticking them there.

Also make sure the accelerator pump isn't hanging on the edge of the cam.

Lastly (of maybe first), try it without your throttle linkage hooked up to see if it is the carb or throttle cable.

Also make sure your secondaries are closing all the way by pushing them down immediately to see if idle speed drops.

Also check the throttle cable for sticking. Definitely not a needle/seat issue here.
