I have a keyless entry on the car. I have one wire I can hook up to the solenoid in order to have the trunk open remotely. I have the trunk solenoid already. Just can't figure out how to connect it. The rod that goes through the latch won't turn unless there is a key in the keyhole for the trunk. I figure I can that rod but then I won't be able to use the key on the trunk anymore which is a shame.
just a thought, take the rod out an hook a switch to the key. Just dont leave your jumpers in the trunk!
I think he means that you can cut a slot into the long metal rod that allows it to be turned without the key in place. He's gonna show me on my trunk and I'll post it.
Not sure if you understood my thought,,, put a electrical switch on the key end and hook your solenoid to lock mechanism. wireless unlock, hit the key send juice to solenoid an unlock,,, seems like a win win as long as your battery is up
I have keyed and keyless on tangerine dream. I used a 78 thunderbird trunk lock, with minor sheet metal mods
Isn't there a tech article on this somewhere? Wouldn't you need the thunderbird trunk key after that change?
you mean this one that i wrote http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=44317 and the stock lock works with the T-Bird latch
i was thinking of notching the key cylinder that the flat bar goes into. that way the flat bar can twist to the unloc postion. today we looked at mo's lock cylinder and it may be possible but not streight forward. sounds like geting the t-bird mechanism is the way to go. sounds like a trip to the salavage yard is going to be soon.
guys is this the right wiring diagram to use? I am trying to activate the power lock through a signal from my keyless remote which has a button for the trunk release:
