a nicer interior with bucket seats, woodgrain on the dash, a vinal top, thats all I can think of now. It was supposed to be the luxery model

It is so funny whenever I read about the padded and carpeted package tray. I thought it was someone trying to think they were awesome by adding crap to the car kind of like the ricers do.... But for the 72 LDO's there was also the sportslamps and a chromed grabber style grill. Also the 72's also use the later model style doors so that is a big difference if you have a 72. And mine has a floor shift too. Also the LDO was first introduced in 72, so all the LDO's have the same door panels with minor interior differences, primarily in the dash and the way the Highback buckets recline/fold, I really wish my seats had the switch on the side.
Looks just like the one in my sig. Basically it is a chromed grabber grill(for 1972 year, chromed standard for the rest of the years) rather then spray painted.
Thanks for the info fellas. This website has been a real treat, I kept seeing LDO and did'nt know what it meant. I never knew there were so many fans of the Maverick but, its been a pleasant surprise. After seeing the following the car has, you'd think the aftermarket would reproduce some of the hard to find parts that are so sought after. Bossed
Autocrafters is doing some of them, but not all. The reason more people aren't doing reproduction parts is simple - Economics. While at one point Mavericks did outsell the Mustangs, no one really kept them long term. Unfortunately, they were considered disposable economy cars at the time. While there are hundreds of us Comet & Maverick owners fixing up these wonderful cars, there are thousands of people working on Mustangs and Camaros. It just makes economic sense for the companies to cater to the many rather than the few. Hopefully with the rising cost of those cars and more people starting to fix up the ignored (by the companies) vehicles, the parts we would like to have will be produced. Just my thoughts on the subject at hand, -Scott H.
Dave, was the cut pile carpeting listed above the thick shag-like carpet that I often see in LDOs? When I think of cut-pile, I think of the regular carpet offered in the later Mavericks - not the shag-like carpet or the loop used in the earlier cars. Also, what was included in the "handling package"?
I assumed that it was 4-leaf rear spings and a big front sway, but wasn't sure. That would mean that ALL LDOs are 4-leaf. Is that true? Dave! Where are you? I'm really curious about the carpet question. There are 4 styles of floors, correct? I've seen: loop carpet cut-pile carpet shag-like carpet rubber mat I've only seen the shag-like carpet in earlier LDOs, but I assume it was optional in non-LDOs?
I have never seen 4-leafs on a Maverick from the factory, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen....just I haven't seen any. Yes Randy, shag carpet in an LDO. Very deep shag. I am pretty sure you could only get this carpet in the LDO package....not an option for other Mavericks.
