Shackle question

I was thinking of getting shackles for the rear of my comet and wanted to no what a good brand was and also if anybody could post pics of their car before and after installing shackles thanks.

I dont get it, arent shackles to lift the rear?

 

Not worth it, after 6 years my extended shackles are beginning to bend out away from each other. Gonna get new stock height ones from espo soon!

 

shackles were the thing in the 70`s, just ta clear big tires, best to get a new set of re-arched springs if ya need clearance,

 

Raise trucks lower cars.

 

got that right , mine sit's just right, just a touch higher in the back, but my f-150, whoooohoooo!!!!!!!!,

 

Just wanna rasie the rear a little but not looking for long term

Shackles will turn a car into an ill handling machine and before you consider it, stay away from air shocks as well. Air shocks will destroy the upper shock mount cross member, my first Mav only had half of it left and a hole in the trunk floor. If you want to bring it up some I would think about adding a leaf to the spring pack.

Shackles are to tie the suspension to the car, NOT to LIFT the car.

 

As mentioned, just add a leaf or a suspension shop could slightly re-arch your springs.

 

With any old car a time comes when parts need to be replaced. Replacing the tired leaf springs was one of the best things I did to my Maverick. The ride and handling was night and day difference
