Transmission problem?

    I got my mav witha 250 I6 running but when i went from park to Drive and pressed on the gas... the car just kept revving like it was in neutral and went nowhere... any ideas? thanks

    Is there enough atf in the tranny? Does this also happen in reverse? If so it sounds like there is no fluid in the torque converter. That would cause that problem. If a converter has no fluid or nearly no fluid that will happen until the tranny can pump enough fluid into the converter. Hope this helps. If reverse works then it would be something else. I'm sure others will chime in. :D

    Thanks man i just checked it out and its totally empty... im gonna refill it tomorrow and hopefully thats all it is...

    1972 Maverick 2 door.Original V-8 3 spd std shift.Also a 72 one owner Sprint sporting a 351 Windsor
    Then you will discover(or need to) why it was empty to begin with.

    well when i bought the car it had been sitting for quit some time and was all taken apart so it was probably just empty when i got it...

    TYPE F fluid Walmart or advance should have it. Gotta use the correct fluid
